Collection: Mughlai Jamawar Pashmina
The Story of Mughlai Shawl
The Mughlai Jamawar Shawls have a significant history. During the rule of the Mughlai Empire, the skilled Karigarhs, or artisans, were kept in the palaces and ordered to make custom shawls for the emperors and their families. Karigarhs would handcraft yard-long shawls under the condition that they could not repeat the same work on any other piece. These Mughal shawls have remained exclusive.
Centuries later, the old shawls were rediscovered and the undamaged patches were hand stitched onto Pashmina. These shawls are unique in their history and are crafted with a skill that has been lost in time and impossible to replicate today.
The intricate threadwork is a testament to the authenticity of this work and can be observed through look at the work from the back side.
